What a RAM factory build sheet includes
A factory build sheet is the internal Stellantis production document created during assembly. It records every installed component and option using sales codes — short alphanumeric identifiers that map to specific parts, packages, and configurations. A RAM build sheet typically covers:
- Engine and transmission: the engine family code (including V6, V8, diesel, and eTorque variants), displacement, and the specific automatic or manual transmission installed.
- Axle ratio: the rear axle ratio sales code, which determines towing and payload capability and varies significantly across RAM configurations even within the same model.
- Exterior paint and interior trim: factory color codes for body and accent panels, seat material (cloth, vinyl, leather), and cab interior finish level.
- Factory packages and option groups: tow/haul equipment groups, off-road packages, technology bundles, and fleet or upfitter-specific provisions installed before the truck left the plant.
- Sales codes: FCA/Stellantis uses sales codes rather than build option codes. Each line on the build sheet corresponds to one sales code, and our tool presents them alongside plain descriptions so you can interpret every entry without a decoder reference.

Where to find your 17-character VIN
Your RAM's VIN appears in three standard places:
- Driver's side base of the windshield: Stand at the front-left corner of the vehicle and look at the lower section of the windshield. A metal plate mounted to the dashboard is visible through the glass from outside without opening the door. The higher ride height of a RAM truck means you may need to look slightly downward at the plate, but it is clearly legible.
- Driver's door-jamb sticker: Open the driver's door and locate the compliance label on the door frame. On full-size RAM trucks, the tall cab door creates an accessible, well-lit reading surface. The sticker lists the VIN alongside tire pressure and load ratings. This is often the quickest spot to photograph on a pickup, since the door opening is wide and at a comfortable height.
- Registration, title, or insurance card: All official vehicle documents carry the complete 17-character VIN. This is the most practical option when researching a truck you haven't inspected in person.
Copy all 17 characters exactly as printed. The VIN uses uppercase letters and digits only, omitting I, O, and Q to prevent confusion with 1 and 0.
Build sheet vs. window sticker
A window sticker presents the vehicle's features in consumer-friendly language with pricing, designed for the showroom. A factory build sheet is the internal production document — same vehicle data, but in sales-code format and often containing details the window sticker doesn't print, including specific axle codes, assembly plant designations, and scheduling data.
